Starting in July this year, Auckland Council’s Te Ararata Creek Flood Resilience project will cause significant traffic disruption in Māngere East.
This project will be undertaken by Council’s Healthy Waters & Flood Resilience as part of the Making Space for Water programme. It will resolve flooding to hundreds of at-risk homes in the area and provide a greater level of protection against flooding for households and the community.
As part of this work the Council proposes to upgrade the Walmsley Road Bridge to increase water flow beneath it, which means closing the bridge to road traffic from July 2025 to February 2026.
During this time we will be working closely with Auckland Transport on traffic diversions and temporary traffic management. The exact details are still to be finalised but this map shows the proposed traffic management and diversion routes for heavy traffic.
We would like your feedback on what is being proposed. Please send any comments or queries to: bluegreen@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz by 28 February.
