Justin’s Transport Minute – 25/11/2022

This week’s TMC Trucking Industry Show promised to be a ‘complete trucking festival’ and boy did it deliver. I’m writing this on day one of the Show, and I have to say it looks like tomorrow is shaping up to be even bigger day which is awesome.

The sheer scale of the show is impressive, with an estimated 20,000 people attending, 100 exhibitors, nearly 500 trucks registered in UDC Show & Shine, and 300 attending the Careers Day.

As always, the driving competition have proved to be a major draw with 40 drivers competing in the coveted TR Group NZ Truck Driving Championships this year, the largest number of contestants yet. I have no doubt tomorrow truck driving final and the crane and forklift competitions will be hotly contested – with winners taking home well-earned prizes such as a trip to the Brisbane Truck Show, trophies, and cash prizes.

If you’re in the area come on down to the Canterbury A&P Showgrounds tomorrow to catch the second day, it’s a great family event with a free kids’ zone providing loads of entertainment. Make sure that you pop in and say hi at our National Road Carriers stand, we’d love to see you.

We appreciate not everyone has the opportunity to attend so we invited TVNZ Breakfast along to capture a bit of the action this morning. It’s worth a watch if you have a moment – it starts at 1.26.54: https://www.tvnz.co.nz/shows/breakfast/live

Lastly, I would like to say a massive thank you to our partners at New Zealand Trucking for all their hard work bringing the show to life – amazing effort Dave, Carol and Rebecca!
