TMS Teletrac Navman event line up brings industry leadership, government collaboration, and international learnings

With doors opening at 9.00am on Wednesday 13 March to the TMS Teletrac Navman Technology | Maintenance | Safety Conference & Exhibition and the Truck of the Year Australasia winner announced at 11.00am ahead of the conference’s official opening at midday, the event is set to kick off with a bang at the Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre.

The Hon. Matt Doocey will be officially opening the event with the Hon. Simeon Brown, Minister of Transport, beaming in remotely. Roading infrastructure and the need to invest in our network is a critical conversation topic – good roading is critical to our industry’s ability to function both sustainability and profitably. Being able to hear directly from Government paves the way for greater understanding of what the Government hopes to achieve and what challenges or limitations need to be overcome to deliver true benefits to both the transport industry and the wider New Zealand public.

Dr John De Pont is the Director of Engineering Research at TERNZ, Transport Research. With over 30-years research experience, 20 of which are on transport issue, John will be discussing where we go next with performance-based designs. Dr John led the development of the SRT calculator which has been instrumental in improving the rollover stability of New Zealand’s heavy vehicle fleet and he has provided technical support to NZTA Waka Kotahi in the development of their approach to implementing PBS. In this role he also developed all of the HPMV pro-forma designs currently in use across New Zealand. With expertise in vehicle-infrastructure interaction, vehicle dynamics, road roughness, vehicle performance and safety, transport economics, logistics and sustainability, there is no doubt Dr John’s session will give delegates something to think about.

The theme of leadership and collaboration continues with Mathew Munro, CEO of the Australian Trucking Association sharing his insights on the current landscape of trucking in Australia. While competition between Australia and New Zealand remains fierce on the sporting front, relationships couldn’t be more different between the trucking associations. With many similarities between the countries in terms of how the industry functions The TMS Teletrac Navman event provides opportunities to share in many areas including health & safety, regulatory frameworks, technology, HR and productivity.

Keep your eyes peeled for further speaker updates, there is plenty more great talent yet to be announced.
