New Port of Tauranga VBS tariff schedule
From 1 July 2025 the Port of Tauranga has introduced its new Vehicle Booking System (VBS) 2025/26 tariff schedule. The peak-period slot booking or cancellation has increased from $29.40 to $30.43 per transaction. The MetroPort VBS fee of NZD $63.75 remains unchanged.
If a truck is late or misses its slot by 4+ hours the fees have roughly doubled to $60.86 (peak) or $23.80 (off peak)
With off-peak bookings cheaper and penalties lower in absolute terms, shifting as much volume as possible to off-peak hours can save money and reduce risk but diligence remains essential for all operators as even small per-transaction increases add up over large fleets.
NRC recommends that you educate your teams about timing expectations and advise your drivers of the penalty thresholds. We also recommend that, if possible, your customers should favour off-peak slots where feasible.
While the base costs have only increased marginally, the penalty for missed or late appearance has nearly doubled. Staying on time isn’t just a best practice: it’s financially imperative.
