The NZI Truckie Rest Zone was held on Wednesday at the Uretiti Weighbridge in Northland, with more than 200 trucks stopping in. Drivers took the opportunity to receive a free health check from St John, along with complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks to help them on the rest of their journey.
NZI generously supports these events across the country to promote awareness around fatigue and driver wellness. Fatigue remains one of the most significant risks for truck drivers, as it can severely impair reaction times, decision-making, and alertness behind the wheel.
Even short periods of drowsiness can increase the likelihood of serious crashes, putting drivers and other road users at risk. By encouraging drivers to stop, refresh, and check in on their wellbeing, initiatives like the Truckie Rest Zone play a vital role in improving safety on our roads.
These events are delivered in collaboration with the CVST, National Road Carriers Association, Northland Road Safety, and St John.
