I attended the final Road Transport Policy Group session on Monday with other industry groups and transport officials. We concluded our fatigue discussions, focussing on fixing eLogbook errors. While this was the last meeting of this forum, our engagement with government officials continues and, as part of the Heavy Vehicle Industry Group, we continue to encourage and contribute to work on reviewing VDAM, and our responses to public consultations (heavy vehicle permitting, WOF and COF A etc) we’ve already helped shape. Watch this space!
Last week whilst I was in Wellington for the CILT forum, I joined other Association team members from Bus & Coach, Transporting NZ, Rural Contractors and Motor Industry Association to work through common position statements on the changes to VDAM, removal of the H sticker, Log Bolster attachment code, and the vehicle safety feature mandating. MIA provided technical advice on the specifics of the safety features and we reached consensus on the path for responding to the consultation documents. Another good example of getting round a table to work through the issues.
