Ian Newey
Board CHAIR
Ian along with his wife Shelley run a large Log Cartage Company based in Ruakaka Northland. They predominantly run Mack Trucks with a couple of others thrown in to increase their diversity. Ian is a strong advocate in the Northland area looking after members interests.

Glen Mackay
DEPUTY CHAIR
Glen Mackay joined the Board of NRC in 2021 after spending 22 running his specialist stock feed transport business, Orion Group, in Morrinsville.

John Baillie
Immediate past chair
John is an owner driver contracted to Foodstuffs running out of Auckland delivering chilled/frozen and fresh produce throughout the Waikato/BOP and Taumarunui region.
John and wife Janet have 3 units contracted to FSNI which keeps them busy however his phone is always on so please do not hesitate to call him if needed.

Corey Burnett
Corey Burnett joined the Board of NRC in 2021, he has spent over 23 years in the transport industry and runs Burnetts Transport, an earthmoving and transport business located in Riverhead, West Auckland.

Adam Norman
Adam Norman joined the family business, Normans Transport, after leaving school aged 15. He spent years working throughout the whole business – from the workshop floor, to servicing and repairing trucks to warehousing and dispatch. Eventually, along with his wife Renee got the opportunity to become a shareholder in the business and take on the role of General Manager.

Pamela Bonney
Pamela joined the family business, L.W. Bonney & Sons in 2018 following a successful international career in corporate communications. Pamela worked for Hewlett Packard in New Zealand, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the US, prior to moving on to global PR agency Hill in Knowlton in London, followed by Baldwin Boyle Group, Fonterra, and Suncorp in New Zealand.

Kyle Wilson
Kyle Wilson is the dispatcher and day-to-day manager of Northern Rural Haulage, a family-owned transport business in Whangārei. With a strong family legacy in the industry – both grandfathers, his uncle, and his parents having run transport businesses – trucking is very much in his blood.
Today, Kyle helps manage a fleet of 16 trucks, including several of his own. Valued for his hands-on approach, he brings together practical experience, a passion for rural freight, and a commitment to regional logistics. On the board, Kyle contributes a working operator’s perspective, grounded in the day-to-day realities of the road, the yard, and the challenges faced by small to mid-sized fleets.

Nikki Ellis
Nikki Ellis began her career in transport and logistics with a summer role in her family’s business following secondary education. From the outset, she developed a strong interest in the sector’s fast-paced and operationally complex environment. Over the years, Nikki has gained extensive experience in data management, customer service, and warehousing before progressing into container dispatch.
In her current role, she oversees end-to-end logistics and distribution operations, applying a hands-on, solutions-focused approach to supply chain management. Nikki’s deep operational expertise and industry insight enable her to contribute meaningfully to strategic decision-making at board level.

Kieran Carr
Kieran Carr is a Chartered Accountant and the Chief Financial Officer of Carr & Haslam Transport, a family business spanning six generations. He joined the NRC board in 2025, following a year as a board secondee. Kieran’s industry experience includes roles at Lion Ltd, Flight Centre, and tour guiding across Europe and Africa before joining Carr & Haslam in 2018.
He brings a blend of financial expertise and transport industry insight, and believes in the value of having a knowledgeable industry voice engaged with the government. Kieran values NRC’s role advocating for the industry and contributes a balanced, well-rounded perspective to the board.

Justin Tighe-Umbers
Chief executive officer
Justin is Chief Executive of National Road Carriers, joining the team in August 2022.
Prior to joining NRC, Justin was Executive Director at the Board of Airline Representatives NZ, where he helped steer the airline industry through the international border closure during the pandemic, and the jet fuel pipeline outage in 2017. He has extensive experience working on infrastructure of national significance at the government-private sector interface. Before joining the transport industry Justin worked in senior management roles in the telecommunications industry for 13 years, including working on the Telecom demerger and the Chorus ultra-fast broadband project.
Justin is a post-graduate from the University of Auckland business school with a master’s degree in International Business.

Jo Wills
Jo is a business strategy advisor and facilitator with extensive experience working with global and New Zealand corporate clients and advising boards, including holding a general management role with Fonterra for eight years.
She is a co-owner and Director of The Hugo Group, a member of an advisory group to the Business and Advisory Committee of the OECD and recently retired from the board of the EEO Trust and the Committee of The Wellington Club.
