State Highway 1 – Kawakawa to Cape Reinga
State Highway 1 – Mangamuka Gorge
  • January – late April 2025, day work only. TTM will be removed while not operating.
  • Due to slip repair work in this area, stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.

State Highway 1 – Between the SH11 roundabout and just north of Rayner Street, Kawakawa

  • Sunday 16 March to Thursday 17 April, during the night, 8pm – 5am.
  • Due to lane rebuild works, one lane closure with stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.

 

State Highway 1 – Whangārei to KawakawaState Highway 1 – Akerama
  • Thursday 20 March to the start of June 2025, during the day and night.
  • Due to road rebuilding in this area, lane shifts and speed restrictions will be in place. Expect delays at the Barnes Road intersection when that portion of works happen, with stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions in place.

State Highway 1 – Near Puhipuhi Road, Whakapara

  • Wednesday 19 March to Wednesday 30 April, during the day and night.
  • Due to road rebuilding in this area, stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.

State Highway 1 – Kauri

  • Sunday 6 April to Thursday 10 April, during the night, 9pm – 5am.
  • Due to road rebuilding in this area, stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.

 

State Highway 1 – Topuni to Whangārei

State Highway 1 – Oakleigh

  • Wednesday 9 April to Wednesday 16 April, during the night, 9pm – 5am: Due to road rebuilding in this area, stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.
  • Sunday 13 April, during the night, 9pm – 5am: The road will be closed, with a detour via Mangapai Road, Paparoa Road, Paparoa Oakleigh Road and State Highway 12.

State Highway 1 – North of Old North Road, Topuni

  • Thursday 3 April to Thursday 17 April, during the night, 5:30pm – 6:30am.
  • Due to road rebuild and drainage improvements in this area, stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.

No significant works scheduled for this week.

 

State Highway 11

No significant works scheduled for this week.

 

State Highway 12

State Highway 12 – Between Matakohe W Road and Old Racecourse Road, Matakohe

  • Monday 7 April to Thursday 17 April, daytime work hours between 6am – 6pm. Road closure in place 24/7.
  • Due to road rebuild and subsidence repair works in this area, the road will be closed 24/7 with a detour via Old Racecourse Road and Matakohe East/West Road.

 

State Highway 14

State Highway 14 – Wairoa

  • Monday 13 January to mid-April, during the day.
  • Due to retaining wall works in this area during the day, stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.

 

State Highway 15

State Highway 15 – Otaika

  • Wednesday 9 April, during the day.
  • Due to repair works in this area during the day, stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.

SH1 Portland Rd to SH15, Whangarei Loop Rd Detour – Sunday 6th April to Thursday 10th April

local road detour via the old Loop Road returning at the roundabout.

SH12 Matakohe road closure between Matakohe W Rd & Old Racecourse Rd

Works: Full pavement replacement – involving a 1m undercut across the full lane width.
When: Monday 7 April to Thursday 17 April 2025.
Work hours: Daytime working hours between 6:00am and 6:00pm. Temporary road closure will be in place 24/7 for up to 1.5 weeks.
Where: SH12 Matakohe – road closure between Matakohe W Road and Old Racecourse Road.
Traffic management: Temporary road closure in place for up to 1.5 weeks. Westbound traffic will be detoured from SH12 onto Old Racecourse Road, then Matakohe East/West Road, before rejoining SH12. Eastbound traffic will take the same detour, in reverse

State Highway 1 (SH1), Kawakawa, Road Rebuild

Works: Road rebuild
When: Sunday 16th March 2025 – Thursday 17th April 2025, no works Friday & Saturday nights
Work hours: All works will take place at night from 8pm to 5am
Where: SH1 Kawakawa, main road – approximately 35m north of Rayner Street to just before
the SH1/SH11 roundabout
Traffic management:
• One lane closure under stop/go traffic control.
• Reduced speed of 30km/h at all times.
• At different stages of the night works, entrance into SH1 Kawakawa will be closed from Vogel St,
Commercial St, Wynyard St, Albert St and Gillies St. Detour in place via Gillies St, Church St and
Commercial St.

SH1 Oakleigh

Fulton Hogan will be carrying out road rebuild works on State Highway 1 Oakleigh as part of the Northland renewals programme. Please see below Traffic Bulletin for details.

 Tuesday 25th March – Tuesday 1st April, works pause then resume Wednesday 9 April to Thursday 1 May to complete the work.

Work hours: 8PM to 5AM

Oakleigh, south of Mangapai road

Traffic management: Single lane closure – stop/go during the works controlled with traffic light controls. Reduced speed of 30km/h depending on the conditions.

Full closure for one night planned – Sunday 13th April.
