SH1 Cape Reinga to Kawakawa
SH1 Mangamuka Gorge (southern side)
Retaining wall construction to repair an underslip (A43) is nearly complete. The final works, including kerb and channel installation and asphalt reinstatement, are underway. A 24/7 single-lane closure with stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will remain in place until the work is finished by the end of next week.
SH1 Kawakawa to Whangārei
SH1 Kauri
Road repair work will take place from Tuesday 19 May to Wednesday 20 May, from 8pm to 5am. A single lane closure with stop/go traffic management and a speed restriction will be in place.
SH1 Te Kamo, Springs Flat
Asphalt laying works will take place on Wednesday 20 May and Thursday 21 May, from 7pm to 6am, as part of Whangārei District Council’s Springs Flat roundabout project. A single lane closure with stop/go traffic management and a speed restriction will be in place. When this stage is complete, traffic will move to the eastern side so crews can start work on the western side. Further asphalt layers are planned after King’s Birthday weekend.
SH1 Whangārei to Wellsford
SH1 Otaika, between Loop Road and Otaika Road
Ground investigation work to drill boreholes in the ground to gather data will take place over the next 3 to 5 weeks. Temporary traffic management will be in place at various locations, positioned to minimise impacts to motorists where possible. This may include shoulder or lane restrictions to enable equipment to be moved around safely. Where work is required within traffic lanes, crews will work at night using stop/go controls.
SH1 Mata, between Totara Road and Hewlett Road
Road repair work will take place from Wednesday 20 May to Friday 22 May, from 8pm to 5am. A single lane closure with stop/go traffic management and a speed restriction will be in place.
SH1 Wellsford, near Maeneene Road
Crews will build a timber retaining wall to address subsidence from Sunday 17 May for about two weeks, from 8pm to 5am (Sunday to Thursday). A single lane closure with stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place.
