Rail

  • Normal operations for the weekend.

Road

  • Plenty of bookings available across today. All import bookings for this evening from 1900 to 0300 have been obtained by carriers.
  • Plenty of bookings available across the weekend.
  • Monday day shift all import bookings from 0330 -1500 and then 1900 – 0500 have been obtained by carriers.

 

On Dock empty

  • On Dock empty gate is open Saturday 0001-1500hrs, Sunday 0700-1500hrs, reopening Monday 0700hrs – thereafter 24 hrs.
  • We are still seeing a number of trucks coming into the MT yard with the twist locks/chains still attached, please can you remind your drivers to disengage twist locks on trailers at the driver safety zone BEFORE entry through the empty gate please.
  • Recently we have seen several trucks arriving with different containers onboard than what is pre-advised. Please ensure your truck is loaded with the correct unit.

Container Terminal Update

  • Terminal vessel schedules and volumes continue to remain variable.

Please continue to monitor our website for any schedule changes and we appreciate all efforts to ensure cargo delivery and collection are managed within the designated receival and free-time periods.   

Multi-Cargo (MC) Operations

  • Currently operating well. The truck grid has been flowing well; at present we are achieving good truck turn times.
  • 25.63% of this week’s gate transactions have been processed through our kiosks. We encourage transporters to use kiosks where possible.
  • Please work with the shipping lines on forward vessel receival dates and availability of Sunday R&D.

From Monday 27 July, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and Auckland Transport will begin enforcing the Special Vehicle Lane (SVL) on SH16 The Strand.

The freight lane was introduced to improve travel time reliability and reduce congestion on this key route between the port, the city and the wider motorway network. NZTA reports that freight vehicles using the lane are already seeing faster and more reliable journeys during peak periods.

Please share with your drivers:

·         Trucks should use the designated freight lane where applicable.

·         The lane is actively monitored by cameras installed along the route.

·         From Monday 27 July to Sunday 16 August, drivers found not complying will

      receive warning notices.

·         From Monday 17 August 2026, infringement notices and fines will be issued.

The Special Vehicle Lane restrictions apply only during designated hours and reverts to a general traffic lane outside those times. However, truck drivers are encouraged to continue using the lane where practical, as doing so helps support smoother freight movements and reduces congestion along The Strand.
